Le Un

I have spent most of my life hiding the fact that I am a nerd, yet, honestly, most of my life has centered around being one. It was my brother who paved the way for me, he is ten years older than me and even though  I grew up in the later 80's I was introduced to many of the last decade's nerd culture, such as the Transformers and Star Wars. I was introduced to these things early on and spent a lot of time sneaking into my brother's room and playing with his original Star Wars and Transformers action figures. To this day I think he may have a bit of resentment towards me for losing Optimus Prime's hand. A few years later I discovered Dragon Ball Z and thus began my anime obsession, I couldn't get enough of it and when I realized that Pokemon centered around the anime culture and there was a T.V. show, well I was hooked. The truth is though, I grew up in a small town and everyone knew everyone else's business and this was not any business that I wanted anyone to know. Seeing as how I lived in a small ranching town in the middle of cowboy country it wasn't exactly cool to be into Pokemon. I mean surely if any one were to find out, I would have immediately been tied to four horses and quartered for my crimes against the cowboy community. It was the thought of being made fun of at school even more (God forbid) that made me keep my nerdness under wraps. At school I was the semi-popular track star, at home I was a Sayin warrior, positive that I was capable of a Kamehameha wave (which I wasn't). Now almost seven years after high school have I finally found and accepted my inner nerd. Like Neo, dying and rising again, I have left behind my old self and accepted my true nature...Welcome to the Nerd Side!

  2. Very true and i understand what it was like to keep "nerdiness" wrapped up for fear of being prosecuted; now after High school i study Math at college and followed my own white rabbit further down the rabbit hole that is nerd culture.
